The  Ribbon of Park Association has been formed to create a continuity of green space within the neighborhood.  At the center of its current focus are three parks: Van Asselt, John C. Little and Othello Park.

The ROPA steering committee is in the process of hiring a consultant to work with neighborhood groups to develop a plan and/or process for future improvements in those three parks.  Hiring the consultant was made possible by a$15,000 matching fund grant from the Seattle Department of Neighbors.  ROPA has developed a time line (below).  The projected date for their first community meeting will be Feb. 20, 2010.  Be sure to reserve the date.

After the initial overall plan is developed for the three parks, ROPA will apply for Seattle Parks Department Opportunity Funds grants of substantially larger amounts of money to make future improvments in the parks and even possibly purchase land for more parks and green space in Othello.
